Sexual Abuse Survivors Support Group

  • Every

Tuesday from 7-8pm, starting April 7th

This group is open to women and men with histories of trauma as a result of sexual abuse (childhood sexual abuse, neglect, childhood physical abuse or rape).  Sharing pain and gaining support from others who understand first hand what you have experienced is vital in the journey to recovery. This is a private and confidential group that can help women and men cope with their emotions surrounding this trauma. These emotions may include, but are not limited to shame, pain, anxiety, sadness, anger and guilt.

Objectives:

  • Help participants share their experience

  • Support participants in shame reduction

  • Recognize that you are not alone

  • Help participants to understand how this trauma impacts areas of current functioning, such as relationships, work, parenting, and stress management

  • Help participants process feelings associated with trauma

The group is warm and supportive, and members work hard to make desired changes in their lives. Consultation is required before acceptance into the group.

Heard In Rye Speaker Series

  • Tuesday April 21, 2020 7:00 pm at Rye Country Day School

William Dereschiewitz will speak on Higher Education: Are We Getting it Right?

  • The award-winning author of Excellent Sheep: The Miseducation of the American Elite and the Way to a Meaningful Life speaks about the high-pressured conveyor belt of education, how the demands for perfection impact our children, and how current trends in education have resulted in students who have lost the ability to think independently.  William encourages parents to take a deeper look at the value of higher education - not merely as a pursuit of practical training - but as an essential time for their children's self discovery.
